EC Opens Up Season At Lakewood

The Elyria Catholic Varsity Boys basketball team opened up the 2011-2012 season in Lakewood on December 2nd 2011. The Panthers came out with a bang, but fell short 80-69 in the end. Lakewood forced EC to turn the ball over 24 times, which hurt the Panthers come the fourth quarter.

EC went into the locker room at half up by two, but the late game drama had fans on the edge of their seats. EC led after the third quarter only by four, and going into the fourth, the Panthers would face full court pressure which led to eight turnovers. Lakewood would take the lead, and the Panthers would foul to stop the clock and save time, but Lakewood hit their final 13 of 17 free throws to confirm their win over EC.

Despite the loss, Elyria Catholic did not have senior Matt Morgan dress. Morgan was injured in the scrimmage against Open Door this past Tuesday, and Cory Strasko suffered a hit to the face, resulting in a black eye and was not brought back into the game.

EC is now 0-1 (0-0 in WSC) on the year. They will play Fairview at Elyria Catholic on Tuesday December 3rd 2011.

Andrew Konno - 3 PTS
Jeremy Holley - 19 PTS

JV Boys also lost to Lakewood 52-30 starting the season off 0-1 (0-0 in WSC). The leader in points was freshman Ceevan Shelton with 8 points.
